Best authentic Japanese food! My husband and I live in the LA city, and we drive to Torrance occasionally on the weekends, just to get Hachi! It’s so delicious. I can’t stop 😂 I wish they had one in LA. The food is consistently good and on point, and so authentic and high quality like the foods that I had in Japan. My Japanese friend recommended this place, so I knew it would be legit but it’s quite mind-blowing. I love getting motsu nabe, saba roll, and the beef tongue here in addition to suntory draft ✨and make sure to get a reservation ahead!

My husband and I have gone to this restaurant quite a few times which is the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. On Monday we arrived just before 9pm (they close at 10:30pm) and were seated quickly. The server brought us waters and immediately asked for our food order. She said it was last call and the kitchen was closing. Again with an hour and a half before their closing time. We didn’t have time to really look over the menu and choose our options. I will say the menu was much smaller with not many individual items as they used to have. More options are only combination/assortment plates now. We watched them turn away two other couples by 9:15pm stating they were already closed. Overall the food we were able to order was good. For the price of everything there I expect better than rushed and unfriendly service. We unfortunately will not be returning.

This small restaurant is located in a strip mall on Carson St. in old Torrance.. it was very busy and popular even on a Monday night! The food was outstanding starting with the beef salad.. it was very tasty and refreshing. Moving on the fancy sashimi was perfect.. very fresh and flavorful. Their beef is top notch whether it was the ribeye or the wagyu tartar service with uni and caviar.. the latter had a beautiful presentation and was equally delicious. The salmon truffle carpaccio was another winner. The service was nice and the counter seating was very comfortable. It might be a good idea to do a reservation especially if it is a busy night. the space is relatively compact and fills up really fast. This is a very authentic dining experience which has not been watered down for an American audience.. real deal outstanding Japanese food. They have tons of robata choices and their crispy pork ribs looked amazing.. def trying them on our next visit. If you love grilled meats and amazing flavor Izakaya Hachi is a must try.

Absolutely love the food here. When I come visit my family in LA they take us here, and I've yet to have a dish I didn't like. We always get the fried gobo, the jidori wings are really tasty, the beef tataki is some of the best I've had in the area. I tried a couple different things today the toro taku and the pressed analog, both were delicious and definitely something I'd get again. I wasn't too crazy about the Japanese potato salad with mentaiko, I feel like it needs a but more mayo. The karaage is also very tasty, and we also had some kaki fry which was very good and the crab croquettes are some of my favorite things to get here. Overall this is one of my top places, sometimes inconsistent and service can lag a bit, but it's never been much an issue to affect my review.

The restaurant is not large, with compact seating, and only accepts reservations, no walk-ins. The service is very warm and the quality of the dishes is very high. I really liked it. Many dishes were so good that we ordered another portion after finishing the first. Delicious!
